iVerse Update for 06/27/09

June 27, 2009  |  Uncategorized  |  7 Comments

Approvals have been slow going this month – currently there are around 15 titles waiting to be approved, including the next issues of Proof, Hexed, Eureka, new Star Trek titles, more Archie stuff, New Image titles and several titles from individual creators – including one created specifically for the iPhone!

Hopefully we will be able to announce the release of these title in the VERY near future. Today, though, we have a small update – but a GREAT one. Especially if you’re interested in reading the latest Red 5 release FOR FREE!

To keep up with our comic updates as soon as they are released don’t forget to follow us on Twitter at http://www.twitter.com/iversecomics

Also we finally took some time and put up an iVerse page on Facebook for those that are interested – http://tinyurl.com/mjqobg

Also – for your Android Users – titles haven’t been coming out on the platform for a month or so, and a few of you have emailed us with concern that we’ve stopped supporting the platform. That isn’t true. There are some complications with the Google platform, including the 24 refund policy, and their method tracking sales, that make it VERY hard to do business with content based apps on the platform. As a result we’re working on a new way to release titles on Android, and we should have more information about that very soon.

Archie: Freshman Year #3

Full Color | 66 Screens | Part 3 of 5

Written by Batton Lash Art by Bill Galvan

“Freshman Year: Winter Term” In the tradition of Batman: Year One and Marvel’s The Ultimates comes the biggest Archie Comics event since the “Love Showdown!” Archie reflects on the term just past, pining over Veronica and lamenting how she went away during the holiday break. Hoping to stay close to Veronica, Archie joins the drama club – the perfect indoor activity during the frosty winter months. But being part of such a large club is hardly the way to gain exclusive quality time with Veronica. Will their reunion be everything Archie hopes, or will the eternal love triangle get off to a rollicking start with friction between Betty and Veronica instead? And will Moose ever be introduced to Midge? Other surprises in store for the gang this second term include some new faculty members as well as the departure of the expelled school bully, Jared McGerk. It’s the funniest first year of high school ever, courtesy of fan-favorite writer Batton Lash of Wolff & Byrd and Archie Meets the Punisher, along with Scrapyard Detectives creator Bill Galvan!

THE THRILLING “FRESHMAN YEAR SAGA” CONTINUES! The first year of high school has been an eventful one for Archie and his friends, and it’s all leading towards a whirlwind finale! But the teens still have some time to go yet. In this latest installment, they are evaluated by their teachers who report their progress to their folks on “parent-teacher” night. How will they fare once their parents learn how they’re doing? Meanwhile, in social life, love triangles abound, and so do pranks – some playful, some nasty. But none nastier than the bikers who have been bedeviling the town. All this, plus a surprise or two! It’s the greatest “first year” of high school ever, courtesy of fan-favorite writer Batton Lash of “Wolff & Byrd” and “Archie Meets the Punisher” fame, along with “Scrapyard Detectives” creator and popular Archie artist/writer Bill Galvan.

iVerse and Dabel Brothers announce deal for mobile comic book content leading with The Warriors

June 25, 2009  |  Uncategorized  |  25 Comments

THE WARRIORS are coming out to Play-e-aaaay! on the iphone.

Deal between Dabel Brothers & iVerse makes comics available for download on mobile devices.

*ATLANTA, GA – June 24, 2009 – * Break out your brass knuckles and get ready to rumble, because THE WARRIORS is coming to a mobile device near you, through iVerse’s digital distribution network!

“iVerse is excited to be working with Dabel Brothers,” said iVerse founder Michael Murphey. “THE WARRIORS comics they have created are fantastic, and will make for a great entry point for people that may love the film, but maybe haven’t read a comic in years…or ever. There is a lot of potential to reach new comic readers with this and other Dabel digital releases.”

Based on the classic novel by Sol Yurick, THE WARRIORS, from Paramount Pictures and now in its 30th anniversary year, tells the story of a New York gang of the same name, framed for killing a rival gang leader who tried to unite all gangs in the area. The film chronicles their journey back to their home turf in Coney Island as they travel through hostile gang territory.

Beginning July 15th, THE WARRIORS comics will be available on Apple’s iPhone and iPod touch, and Google’s Android Mobile Devices through iVerse Media’s digital distribution technology.

First up will be the hit THE WARRIORS comic book movie adaptation, writtenby David Atchison, with art by Chris Dibari. Following that will be THE WARRIORS: “Jailbreak,” which tells the story of what happens after the movie ends, crafted by the creative team of writer Erik Henriksen and artists Herb Apon and Todd Herman.

The first issue of each will be available for download for free, with subsequent issues available for 99 cents each. The comics will be available for download the week after each issue ships to stores.

Downloading the digital comics couldn’t be simpler. iPhone and iPod Touch owners can search for the “THE WARRIORS” in the App Store located directly on their phone, or in iTunes on their PC or Mac. With a few touches the digital comic will be downloaded directly onto their device. Google Android users will follow the same steps using Google’s “Android Marketplace.”

“Dabel Brothers Publishing is one of the most creative comic publishing companies out there, and they continue to push the envelope not only on content, but also into new mediums,” said Michael Corcoran, president, Paramount Licensing Inc. “The mobile platform will continue to grow in importance for traditional publishers, and we are delighted to see THE WARRIORS as one of the early properties to tap this new medium!”

“We’ve been having a blast working with Paramount on these comics, so we’re thrilled to be able to sign this deal with iVerse, and get our comics out there to perhaps an audience who hasn’t been exposed to our work, or maybe even THE WARRIORS, before,” said vice president Les Dabel. “We’re also finalizing deals on some of our other titles as well, so you can expect to see more Dabel books via iVerse soon.”
