I’m happy to announce that Digital Comics from iVerse will be available in November 2008. We’ve signed deals with some great content partners and we’re very happy to be adapting their comics into Digital titles for iPhone and iPod Touch.
We’ll be announcing more about what our initial offerings will be soon. In addition to adapting existing titles from creators and studios, we’re also hard at work on some “iVerse Originals” that we’ll be able to showcase in more detail as well.
I hate to keep saying “we’ll reveal more soon!” but contracts take time – and we have to get the ink dry before we start naming names. ![]()
So far, though, the response from the comics community has been overwhelmingly positive, and I feel like we’re going to be able to offer some really compelling content from some high quality publishers and creators.

This has been an absolutely amazing week. We’ve spoken to some really great people, and we’re extremely excited about where iVerse is going from here.
I just wanted to pop into the blog here with a quick update, and let all of you know that we’re sorting through emails, and submissions and we’re trying to get back in touch with everyone as quick as possible.
For those of you asking about “the iVerse Deal” we’ll be announcing that publicly very soon. I can tell you that Creators will make more money from their titles than either Apple or iVerse. We’ll have more details in the form of a formal announcement in the very near future.
Right now we’re trying to finalize a few things and reach a point where we can make a few public announcements about our partners, and the first wave of titles which we hope to have in the iTunes App Store before the end of the year.
Also, I think its important to mention that while iVerse is currently working only on iPhone/iPod Touch Digital Comics development, we are exploring other outlets for the future. Google’s Android OS looks to be very promising, and just might be our next platform that we create applications for.
If there is a platform out there with a phone or mobile device attached to it to create an enjoyable reading experience, we’ll consider it.
We’ve got a lot of great stuff coming up – and I can’t wait to share it with you. Thank you to everyone who has sent along kind words and messages of support. We’re very excited about the future of iVerse, and the future of digital comics.
DIGITAL COMICS ARE COMING TO IPHONE/IPOD TOUCH FROM IVERSE MEDIA
Apple’s Mobile Devices Put The Comic Book Store Right In Your Pocket
Owners of Apple’s iPhone and iPod Touch devices have been downloading millions of games, utilities, books, and tools from Apple’s recently launched iTunes App Store. Starting later this year millions of iPhone/iPod Touch owners will have the opportunity to download digital comics from established industry professionals and studios, as well as new and rising comic book stars through iVerse Media.
“We have developed an extremely simple iPhone Application that allows us to display comics that have been specifically formatted for the iPhone/iPod Touch.” said iVerse Media owner Michael Murphey. “What we’re doing is creating new comics, and adapting existing comics into a format that makes reading comic books an enjoyable and easy experience on these devices. There’s no “zooming” or “pinching” required. All you have to do is flick your finger.”
Comics adapted using the iVerse Media software will be available in the iTunes App Store for as little as $.99. Some titles will be released free of charge.
“Creators and Studios will be able to set the final prices on their titles, but we’re expecting most standard length titles to be around $.99, and we’re encouraging creators to give away the first issues of their titles to allow new readers who may not be familiar with comics, but are iPhone/iPod Touch owners, to give comics on the devices a try.”
“With Digital Comics on the iPhone/iPod Touch we have access to a world wide audience, no printing costs or print run minimums, and it doesn’t take 3 months to get the title from in the catalog to on sale in a store. Each title will be featured as its own application in the App Store, and will be backed up onto the readers desktop or notebook computer each time they sync their device.”
iVerse Media is currently discussing comic adaptions and new creations from a variety of industry professionals and studios, and as of today, is accepting submissions from new creators. Details on submission requirements can be found at:
