UPDATE: All of our initial titles have now been approved. We have not yet seen a rejection based on content.
I know many of you have expressed concern over Apple’s policies for inclusion in the App Store when it comes to content. Particularly because of the rejection of a comic created specifically for the iPhone called “Murderdrome”.
I don’t know the full extent of the content in that book, but what I’ve seen from it had people decapitated and the murder of others as a fun sport. From what I understand it was satirical in nature, but having not seen it in its entirety, I can’t very well comment on the content of it.
What I can comment on is the content of our first round of titles. So far we have submitted 6 completed books, 5 of which have been approved. The content on these books has ranged from “G” to “PG-13” and all of them have been approved with no trouble.
So, while there is certainly still some question as to what Apple is and is not going to allow into their store, it certainly doesn’t look like it’s going to be huge problem. I’ll admit when that stuff first started happening I was afraid Apple was going to be gun shy and not let ANYTHING in – and that has certainly proven to NOT be the case.
So – all is looking well here. We’ve decided to launch the first titles on Nov. 1st – so be on the look out…they will be in the App Store very soon.
iVerse is looking for your feedback!
The mobile landscape is quickly changing, and the iPhone had inspired many others to try an “App Store” concept of their own. RIM, the maker’s of Blackberry, and Google are both throwing their hats into the ring with their own App Store concepts – each with their own benefits and drawbacks.
Rumor has it that Windows Mobile will be getting one as well very soon.
Each of these platforms present their own challenges, and if and when we choose to develop for another platform, we’ll want to expand slowly, to ensure the best possible product.
So – we want your feedback on which platform to develop for next! Please take the poll below and tell us what you think we should work on next, after our iPhone development is complete!
